Negatives of the AO Smith
Below I have also listed the major disappointments of this water heater I have based this on the most common reasons why someone would return the heater or make a formal complaint against them on their site or on amazon shopping site.
How the AO Smith Promax 30 Gallon Works
Cold water enters the internal “dip tube’ of the water heater; this forces the cold water to the bottom of the connection, then pushes hot water through the outlet. In providing most of the hot water for a given size of the tank, the typical residential water heater is equipped with two thermostats the bottom thermostat controls the lower heating elements and the top thermostat controls the upper heating element.
Only one element in the AO Smith Promax is active at a time, as the lower element sees the cold water first and it does most of the work. The upper heating element is used when the entire water in the tank is cold. Glass line is installed inside the tank to prevent water from corroding the steel tank. When the internal pressure of the tank exceeds its limits, a temperature and pressure relief safety device is triggered to open it, avoiding any damages.
Even for the larger households with a bigger demand for hot water, the 30 Gallon ProMax electric or gas water heater can provide enough hot water even during cold temperatures.

Do I recommend the 30 gallon gas water heater? Currently on the market many people are experiencing some problems so this puts this water heater at a risk to purchase. It’s not a cheap heater and the damage that it can cause is not worth the risk to your home.
Owning either the AO Smith Promax electric or gas water heater is a matter of preference on what may be more convenient to you and your needs.
